People are swapping their favourite coffee drinks for a new, viral drink that has been added to the Caffe Nero menu - fans are rushing to get their hands on one and insist it is totally worth it

People are delighted to learn Caffe Nero's "secret is out" – as the cafe giant has just brought a brand new drink out. The popular chain is known for it's good quality coffee and delicious pastries.

Recently the caffeine giant brought out a pistachio iced drink, and have always offered unique drinks around Christmas and other special occasions. However, it's not gone unnoticed that one particular viral drink has been missing. People walking into their local Caffe Nero's yesterday were shocked to see matcha items on the menu for the very first time.

Nowadays, many coffee and tea fans are swapping the classic hot beverages for cool matchas. Despite containing some caffeine, matcha has less than black tea or coffee. It's also packed with antioxidants – and is seriously delicious too.

Due to its earthy flavours, people recommend pairing matcha with a syrup or alternative milk to enhance the taste. Caffe Nero has regular matcha on their menu as well as two exciting flavours - Vanilla Matcha Latte (hot or iced) or the Strawberry Vanilla Iced Matcha Latte. Plus, the matcha used is said to be the same as Blank Street - the viral brand queen of all things matcha.

People were "so excited" after spotting the new treats on the menu - and rushed to social media to inform other matcha fans. One TikTok user said: "Guys breaking news – I just found out that Caffe Nero does matcha.. .I wasted no time."

After getting a Strawberry and Vanilla Iced Matcha Latte, she added: "Colour check - it's looking good. And I saw they use Perfect Ted, which I think is the same as Blank Street and Joe and the Juice."

Another who rushed out to get a matcha on Thursday in Leeds, said: "Eventful morning trying to get the new Caffe Nero matcha but it was worth it!" Another said: "Nero has matcha, I repeat, Nero has matcha."

A Glaswegian woman, Jade Cecilia, became the first person to enjoy a matcha at her local Caffe Nero on Wednesday morning.

"It's matcha day," she said. "Oh my god, I'm not even over exaggerating that is so good, it tastes like strawberries and cream. They also use the Perfect Ted, the same as Blank Street. That's made my morning."

Caffe Nero confirmed the news in announcement on social media. A spokesperson said: "The secret is out, matcha is here. Which will you try first? Vanilla Matcha Latte (hot or iced) or the Strawberry Vanilla Iced Matcha Latte.

"Made with premium, organic ceremonial-grade matcha. Order at the bar with your favourite barista and pay via the app to enjoy an extra golden stamp this weekend."

On Caffe Nero's Instagram page, people rushed to comment as one said: "It's like pure magic." Another insisted: "I need this." And a third cheekily wrote "About time!"

In other coffee shop news, matcha lovers have also been rushing to Marks and Spencer to try the viral £4.25 Raspberry and White Chocolate Matcha Latte.
